Cadets Take The Trophies At Laying-Up Dinner
Well we had a great time at the Gunfleet Laying-Up Dinner on Saturday 26 October and had three large tables to ourselves, but why they split the boys from the girls I will never know!! I don't know if I recognised everyone as they were all a bit poshly dressed - not a wetsuit in sight. The food was brill and lots of it; we laughed (politely - only joking) at the Commodores quips as he made the welcoming speech and then it was on with the presentation of trophies.....and didn't we do well. So who got what? Well it's like this:
Our Cadet Vice Commodore Robert Gutteridge got the Mad Hatter Topper Class Points Trophy, the Spirit of the Wind Trophy, third in the Cadet Single Helm and won the Junior Leading Helm for 2013
Emily Cossens got the Austin Ladies Trophy
Beth Ford got the Cadet Single Helm and the Captain Flint Trophy
Cadet Rear Commodore Aaron Baker got second in the Spirit of the Wind
Ben Richardson got third in the Spirit of the Wind
Cadet Compound Officer Tommy Martin got the Double G Trophy for the SOS Topper Class and second in the Cadet Single Helm
Beth Elliott and Darcie Baker got the Star Point Topaz Class Points Trophy and the Bob Agate Trophy for the SOS Topaz Class
Conor and Finlay Williams got the 405 Helm and Crew Trophies for the Hobie 405 Class Points
Cadet Sailing Secretary Charlie Spence and brother Harry got the SOS Hobie 405 Trophy
And on the merit (and surprise) side of the Trophies it's well done to the following:
Daisy and Harry (plus dad) were awarded the Stan Camp Progress Cup
Brogan Bates was awarded the Cadet Merit Trophy
Beth Elliott was awarded the Cissbury Trophy
We finished the evening on the dance floor (even though mums and dads decided to "strut their stuff" too - how embarrassing!).
