Cadets & Otters 2023
Tuesday:
Five of Gunfleet's Cadets and Otters headed to Birch Hall Adventures, Kirby, for a week of sailing and a variety of activities both on and off the water. They all took part in the RYA Sail Training programme and were rewarded, at the end of the week, with certificates of achievement. It was certainly a full-on week with archery, wood carving, human Cluedo, dancing on a turtled Topper, crabbing, cricket on the beach, barbecue, swimming, racing Optimists with bin bags as sails, tree climbing; to name just a few things.
Four of Gunfleet Sailing Club’s Cadets headed round to Walton & Frinton Yacht Club Cadet Week where they had a great time and picked-up a few trophies at the same time.
Whilst the sailing season is not yet upon us, the Cadets and Otters popped down to the Pavilion for a spot of bowling, and had a great time. Unfortunately a number of our Cadets and Otters were away, as it was the half-term holiday, but those that attended were soon getting strikes and notching-up the scores. At the end of Game 1 it was a win for Adam, whilst Game 2 saw his sister Laura take top spot.
Some of the Gunfleet's Cadets and Otters got together down the Club on Tuesday 3 January to take part in a Games Afternoon. As well as a wide variety of games in the Clubhouse, the mild weather allowed some outdoor activities on the beach, and everyone soon worked-up a healthy appetite. This was just as well as the Club's Social Secretary had been busy cooking pancakes and these were soon demolished; the only difficulty was choosing between chocolate spread, honey, syrup, or lemon and sugar, although some went for a combination.
