Santa Braves The Storm!
Saturday 15 December saw onshore winds gusting up to 51 mph and freezing rain lashing down, but that didn't deter the members of Gunfleet Sailing Club from joining the Gunfleet Christmas Party. The decorated Clubhouse was warm and cosy, the festive food was fabulous and the Prosecco corks popped and a wide array of drinks flowed as everyone had a great time. A seasonal table quiz kept people scratching their heads, and the selection of Christmas jumpers was a sight to behold.
The highlight of the evening was the visit from Father Christmas and his little elf. They had planned to sail in but with wild seas and strong winds the dynamic duo chose to take to the sky in their sleigh, being careful not to be blown off course. The children cheered and the adults applauded as they handed out presents to all those that had been good in 2018. All to soon they were gone and the evening carried on to the wee small hours; what a great way to say hello to Christmas, and wave goodbye to the 2018 sailing season.
